What is MERV?

Understanding the MERV rating of your air filter is essential for maintaining good air quality in your home. MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. It's a rating system that measures how well an air filter traps particles in the air. The higher the MERV rating, the better the filter is at trapping particles.

Types of Air Filters

There are many types of air filters available, but how do you know which one is right for you? We manufacture multiple filter types, including Merv 8, Merv 11, and Merv 13. Just as you read above, the higher the MERV rating, the better job is does at trapping particles in the air.

You'll see many cheaper filter designs throughout your searches online or in the store, but beware- not all filters are made the same!

We believe strongly that the pleated filter is the best filter for any home...are we biased? Yes, but we also started an entire company on pleated filters after years of research. Fiberglass filters like below, just don't cut it.  They are cheaper, yes we know- but what are you really getting for slightly less money? Do you know?

Pleated filters can capture up to 95% of airborne particles in the air of your home, which is significantly more than a fiberglass filter- coming in at roughly 25% of particles in the air and typically have a MERV rating of 2-4.

How Do You Measure Air Filters To Get The Correct Size Needed?

Just like any other product, there are multiple variations and sizes- air filters are no different. We carry the most common filter sizes found across the US, and always post the "actual dimensions".  There are a ton of filter grille sizes that have been made over the years, and sometimes they are slightly different in dimensions than the normal sizes.

The industry uses common measuring dimensions when selling filters to make it easy for shipping, sku's, etc, but beware- they are not always the same actual dimensions.

Below you'll see that we always list the "actual size" on our filters so when you get ready to order filters, be sure to measure your old filter or the slot/ grille that it goes in. (This is an example for a 20x20x1 filter- all filters have their own dimensions)

How Do You Change Your Air Filter?

We won't tell anyone, but here is a quick guide on how you change your filter(s). Sometimes they can be in the unit itself, or often times your home will have a filter grille, with a door that opens and makes for easy filter replacement.
